10K REGISTRATION NIGHT

In preparation for our inagural 10K Run this year, we are hosting a registration night on Friday, May 31st between 6-9pm in the Parish Rooms (behind the Parochial House).

By signing-up at our registration night on Friday, May 31st, participants can avail of a special early-bird discount rate of €20.

Though this is an official Athletics Ireland Approved event, and will hopefully attract many elite and competition runners, we are keen to stress that we also want to attract everyone, from walkers to joggers and families to ensure August 18th is a great family day out for all in Duleek.

We are delighted to announce that our Charity Partner for our first ever 10K Run is Conor Traynor. Conor, from Duleek, suffers from an extremely rare condition, named Pallister Killian Syndrome. The condition is so rare that only 4 cases have been diagnosed in Ireland and 300 worldwide. Conor is 6 years old and is severely disabled. To make his life a little easier, his family are trying to raise funds to build a sensory room in his home consisting of lights, music and tactile boards. Duleek & District Athletic Club are proud to be associated with, and to support Conor’s family in the development of a sensory room for Conor.

Please keep an eye out for further notices on our Facebook page, here on our club website at www.duleekac.ie and across local media. We look forward to seeing you at our Registration Night on Friday, May 31st.

GET FIT THIS SUMMER WITH DULEEK & DISTRICT AC

Having only been established just over a year, Duleek & District Athletic Club has quickly become one of the biggest sporting success stories in the East Meath area, and with the bright evenings now set in, the Club are actively seeking new adult members who are interested in improving their fitness levels.

The Club welcomes new adult members for our Fit4Life and Meet & Train Programmes, irrespective of fitness levels. We place a strong emphasis on community, and encourage the development of athletics, in a fun and sociable environment. We already have a large membership base but warmly welcome any new adults interested in getting involved and getting fit over the Summer.

The Fit4Life programme can help you develop your fitness in a fun, sociable environment. You can start at any age, no previous experience is required and you can choose a pace to your level of fitness. The programme is suitable for beginners through to regular runners, and the emphasis is on meeting with people of a similar ability on a regular basis to walk or run. We meet every Monday & Thursday at 7.15 PM and Saturday morning at 08:30am on Village Green. Our trained coaches will put plans in place to ensure you reach and maintain your goals, whatever they might be.

Of course, we are looking forward to our inaugural AAI approved 10K Run on Sunday, August 18th next to tie in with Duleek Fair Day. If anyone is looking for a personal fitness challenge, then the upcoming 10K Run is the perfect opportunity.

We have opened up registrations for anyone interested in participating in the 10K Run. Just log onto our website at www.duleekac.ie where full details on the route and sign-up details are available. Though this is an official Athletics Ireland Approved event, and will hopefully attract many elite and competition runners, we are keen to stress that we also want to attract everyone, from walkers to joggers and families to ensure August 18th is a great family day out for all in Duleek.

CLUB NOTICE

Due to the bad weather and the forecast for the East for the rest of today, both Juvenile training and the Adult Meet n'Train this evening at the Lourdes Track are cancelled. As Duleek was not affected by the snow last night, Fit4Life is still going ahead (7.15pm on Village Green). We will let you know if there is any change to this.

CLUB LAUNCHES 10K RUN

The official launch of Duleek & District Athletic Club’s inaugural 10K Run (AAI Approved) took place last Saturday and we were delighted that Graham Geraghty kindly agreed to be guest of honour. There was a great buzz on the Green and even Mayo man (Club Secretary, Ruairi Nestor!!) felt privileged to be in the presence of a Meath GAA legend!

We will very shortly open up registrations for anyone interested in participating in the 10K Run. Though this is an official Athletics Ireland Approved event, and will hopefully attract many elite and competition runners, we are keen to stress that we also want to attract everyone, from walkers to joggers and families to ensure August 18th is a great family day out.

The Duleek Gathering Event, ‘Duleek Fair Day & 10K Run 2013’ will be promoted as a celebration of all that the Parish has to offer.  We extend an open invitation to all family and friends who are living outside the Parish to come home and join in the celebrations.

If you would like to get involved and support the event in any way, please get in touch with us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Please keep an eye out for further notices on our Facebook pages, club website and across local media.

CLUB DEFIBRILLATOR APPEAL

We are now registered for Fones4Life, who collect old phones and recycle them. The deal is that if we can collect 470 used/second hand phones, we will get a defibrillator for the Club along with training and storage for the defibrillator....FOR FREE!

A defibrillator will help us in the fight against Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA). This is a condition in which the heart suddenly stops beating. SCA usually causes death if not treated within minutes. Defibrillators & CPR treatment increase the survival rate of victims.

So please, have a good look around your home, ask family and friends for their old phones and start collecting!! Phones can be handed in to any Club member. To begin with, we will have a collection box on Saturday afternoon for the official launch of the 10K Run. Let's get this vital piece of equipment for our Club! For further info, please contact Stephen McKee, Club PRO, at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or on 086 0432760. Thank you.
